The kiyiz is a handmade felt rug of Turkic origin. This one was made by Connie Tsareva of Upper Balkaria. Using dyed, local wool, layer after layer were added together to make this beautiful rug. Very durable, it can be vacuum-cleaned (or natives take them out into the snow, lay them face-down, and stomp on them, which is also fun, just make sure you air dry it afterwards). Whether you put it on your floor or hang it on your wall, this will make a unique and wonderful addition to your home.
